This Week in Geek: New releases and a leak

New Releases

Tomb Raider

Rated: M (Mature)
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
Released: March 5th

A younger (and a slightly less busty) Laura Croft takes the stage in this revamp of the Tomb Raider video games. Women kicking butt and exploring ruins in search of treasure sounds like my cup of tea.

My one disappointment: they still haven’t given the poor woman a good sports bra. Can’t she be sexy and have decent boulder-holder support?

Keza MacDonald reviewed the game on IGN.

Atelier Ayesha: Alchemist of Dusk

Rated: T (Teen)
Platform: PlayStation 3
Released: March 5th

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk follows Ayesha Altugle as she searches for her lost sister, Nio.

This is a great game for fans of the turn base fighting style and JRPGs. If Totori and Rorona are any measure of what to expect, this game will involve a lot of gathering ingredients and doing alchemy for folks around town. For me, it’s tedious work. For die-hard fans of JRPGs, it’s addictive and fun.

MLB 2K13

Rated: E (Everyone)
Platforms: PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360
Released: Mark 5th

Basically, you get to play baseball on the couch. Brilliant!

All joking aside, MLB 2K13’s predecessor, MLB 2K12, was a lot of fun to play and kind of addicting even though I don’t play a lot of sports related games. MLB 2K13 can only improve on a good thing.

Game modes include My Player, Franchise Mode, Postseason and Home Run Derby, just to name a few. Find out more on the Bleacher Report.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

Rated: T
Platforms: Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3
Released: March 5th

Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, inspired by the anime, is promised to feature a more immersive story mode and grander battles.

The leak got larger: Assassin’s Creed

In other news, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag trailer, which included the game’s release date, was leaked last week.

Then, over the weekend, the game’s CGI reveal trailer also somehow found its way online. I’ve also seen several new screen shots from the game floating around that are said to be more leaked content.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be released on October 29, 2013.

I just have two questions: Who’s leaking this stuff? Isn’t he or she afraid of getting fired?
