Food is a staple that most people can talk about or connect on at some level.
Whether it’s swapping recipes that grandma wrote on a yellowed card or talking about the latest restaurant that opened down the street, there’s something food related going on constantly.
Columbia is no different. In fact, food is so beloved that there’s a food blog culture that’s growing right under our noses.
If you want to get involved in the discussion or even start your own blog, here are a few sites to get you started:
1. Show-Me Eats
Scott Rowson started this blog a couple years ago and writes about all kinds of food activity in Columbia: restaurant openings and closings, eating out healthy and sometimes he writes lists about food topics. His blog includes photos and videos and his writing style can be witty, informative or sarcastic. As a local, Rowson has a wealth of knowledge to share with those who visit his blog.
Eric and Joanna Reuter run Chert Hollow Farm, which offers organic produce to customers near Columbia. Their blog is an added component that provides updates about CSA boxes and distribution dates and also updates about the farm. This blog focuses more on what’s in the next CSA box, harvest dates and how to use it. But they also have other blog posts, such as a recipe for turtle soup.
This might be my personal favorite, if only because the name is so catchy. Robin, the blogger, writes about all sorts of restaurants in and around Columbia. She mixes things up, by eating different cuisines and also eating at cheap, reasonable and expensive restaurants. The blog is also full of photos and links to some of the other blogs listed above. Plus, it’s updated pretty regularly.
