Microbudget films and microbrews are both made on a small budget but have a big impact. Ragtag Cinema and Uprise Bakery will be showcasing some of the best of both with their Homebrewed 2013 series.

The series features a different microbudget film every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in July. After the screening, a Skype Q&A with the up-and-coming director will follow. Viewers can grab the featured microbrew on tap at the Uprise bar to complete their indie evening.

Tonight’s film will be The Unspeakable Act, a drama about a 17-year-old girl who is in love with her brother. Director Dan Sallitt will be there in person during the Q&A.

Next week, Ragtag will screen Nathan Silver’s Exit Elena on July 24. Elena is a live-in aide whose first employer treats her like the daughter she never had.

The final film in the series will be Consuming Spirits, Chris Sullivan’s animated film for adults about three troubled people in the rust belt. The screening will be on July 31.
