What’s better than a Friday night at home on the couch? A giant blowup screen playing Megamind while you and your loved ones lounge on a blanket in Flat Branch Park. Sponsored by Columbia Parks and Recreation and KPLA 101.5, this summer’s series of Outdoor Movies in the Park kicks off this Friday.
Megamind follows in the footsteps of other recent animated super hero movies in both visual and comedic style. There are enough pop culture references to elicit laughs from the grown-ups and plenty of slap-stick humor for the kiddies. If the plot clichés— leading lady journalists, invisible transportation, underappreciated heroes, etc.— repeated throughout the film don’t bother you too much, then the all-star voice cast is sure to please. Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill all grace the film’s audio track.
If timing or weather interfere with this Friday’s film, don’t worry; there are two more shows this summer. Yogi Bear plays Friday, June 10 at 9 p.m. and An American Tale – Fievel Goes West plays Friday, July 8, at 9 p.m.
