Girl meets girl. Girls fall in love. One is an alien that has been sent to Earth to get her heart broken.

Love is a four-letter word that can bring both tears and laughter. In Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same love does both. The focus of the film follows the developing romantic relationship between Jane, a stationary card-stocker, and Zoinx, an alien from outer space.

Parallel plots follow the challenging relationship between Zylar and Bar, who are also lesbian aliens, and the ever-present Men In Black. No, not quite Will Smith and no; there are no mind-erasing machines. Without mind-erasing power, the characters’ mistakes are set in stone.  The film highlights the pitfalls of mankind, such as striving for liquid courage after a few too many martinis and purposely stepping on the hearts of loved ones.

The film is a 1950s-inspired Sci-Fi film shot in black and white. Writer, director and producer Madeleine Olnek highlights the vulnerability of the scenarios and characters and says that she made the movie because, “Someone had to.”

With its cheesy theme music, all-too-relatable characters (surprisingly even the aliens) and quick-witted jokes, Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same is an enjoyable date-night comedy for couples of all varieties.
