Stephens College junior Jacqui Joyce and recent Stephens graduate Hannah Robins teamed up for the short documentary, “BoCoMo: At Your Service” — an inside look into some of Columbia’s resident restaurants. Shot in the past three weeks, BoCoMo interviewed servers from Ernie’s Café and Steakhouse, Bangkok Gardens, Hooters, CC’s City Broiler and Peking Restaurant.
The majority of the servers interviewed were women, with the exception of the male server from Erine’s. Servers were uncensored when responding to questions about tips, pet peeves and customer admiration. In 15 minutes, BoCoMo captures the highs of getting a large tip — one as much as $400 — to the stereotypes attached to a service job. Unlike other films that depict restaurant service, you won’t see special ingredients added to entrees, but rather real, hardworking people. BoCoMo is honest, funny and entertaining, and reminds us all to always tip our servers.
