I’m finally headed to Arrowhead Stadium for the final Border Showdown game between MU and KU’s football team.

It wasn’t until Thursday as I watched Texas A&M get robbed of their final chance to “beat the hell out of Texas” that I realized this will be our last chance to take a tiger-sized bite out of Kansas. I’ve now read several articles about what the migration to the SEC will mean for our team, but what will it mean to our fans?

What will we do with these new SEC teams? You can’t simply choose another team to hate with as much passion as the descendants of men who killed your ancestors … who your ancestors killed right back. Sure several of our SECeding Big 12 brethren will be joining us, but not our favorite team to hate.

Will we ever find an adequate replacement rivalry? Should one even attempt to replace a rivalry that’s been going strong for 120 years?

I guess, when it comes right down to it, I will miss the Kansas Jayhawks. Remember kiddos, hate can keep people together just as much as love. So maybe today, for the last Border Showdown game, consider giving your enemy a hug… while sticking a “kick me” sign to their backs.
