It’s almost 2012, but if you’re still not sure how to celebrate the new year in Columbia, here are several options including music, drinks and family fun. Happy New Year, Columbia!

The whole family is welcome at Columbia’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration in the District, featuring alcohol-free entertainment for all ages. The event kicks off at 4 p.m. with a 5K run/walk, and the children’s art area opens at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church. There is a children’s procession at 9:30, followed by a grand finale procession at 11:30, which ends with fireworks downtown at midnight. For information about the performers, see the website.
New Year’s Eve with The Jolly Brothers

Hailing from Jefferson City, The Jolly Brothers are reuniting after a 20-year hiatus to rock the Blue Note for New Year’s Eve. With their combination of energetic rock, blues and soul music and a few tender love ballads, The Jolly Brothers aim to have audiences dancing in the aisles to ring in 2012.
New Year’s Eve 2012 Celebration
When: 9 p.m. to midnight

Room 38 offers a classy affair including music from DJ Tres and Grey Goose Vodka drink specials for their guests, as well as their premium hors d’oeuvres from 9 to 11 p.m. Of course, there will be a countdown to midnight and a champagne toast, too.

If you’re 21 or over, mosey on down to Whiskey Wild for an all you can drink shindig. The cost includes entry, performances by Str8 Arrow and Haywyre, bottomless bar drinks, giveaways, a balloon drop countdown and a champagne toast at midnight. If you’re not feeling like draining the bar, pay $15 and buy your own drinks all evening.
New Year’s Eve with The Record Collector

Where: Mojo
Cost: $10; $12 under 21

Kick up your heels to the sounds of The Record Collector, a 10 to 14 member local group described as “a punk rock gospel choir.” Groovy soul music combined with the energy of punk rockers is a high-energy way to usher in the new year with style.
