After yesterday’s killer performance, most St. Louis Cardinal fans thought today would have been about the same. Unfortunately, the Cards lost the last game of the series 6-3.

If you saw game two of the Reds v. Cardinals series, you would know that everyone but Matt Holiday was a hitting machine. Today was the opposite. Holliday seemed to be the only one to get a hit. Hopefully the boys weren’t just trying to give him a confidence boost.

I highly doubt they were. Today’s loss is probably due to the injuries on the field. Lance Berkman was put on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday after aggravating a calf injury. Jon Jay is now on the injury list. He left the field in a sling after running into the wall trying to catch a home run. The impact caused his to jam his right shoulder. Jay is out on a day-to-day basis. And of course, Adam Wainwright, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Even after a disappointing loss today, the Cardinals still won the series and got some good news as well. The 2012 All-Star ballot was released today and eight of the Cardinals made the ballot. These eight players include: Carlos Beltran, Lance Berkman, Matt Holliday, David Freese, Yadier Molina, Rafael Furcal, Jon Jay and Tyler Greene. Online voting starts tomorrow at MLB.com and will close at 10:59 p.m. on June 28.

Tomorrow the Cards play the Pittsburg Pirates. Game time is 6:05 p.m. Arrrrr you ready?
