A misstep, a misappropriation and a beer you can’t miss are the Columbian tweets, tweets this week.

After an epic wave of backlash this year towards the Maneater and its controversial content, two editors at the student publication  were notified Wednesday from the University of Missouri that a hearing would be held discussing the editors’ violations of the university’s standards of student conduct. The former managing editor and MU sophomore Abby Spudich thought of immediately resigning after the release of a satirical April Fool’s Day issue that included offensive language, in particular renaming the publication The Carpeteater. Spudich issued a letter of apology last Friday. Travis Cornejo, former Editor-in-Chief of the paper, stepped down Wednesday afternoon.

The first (of hopefully many) wholesale brewery in Columbia had its official launch party Wednesday night at Shakespeare’s Pizza. Three local Columbians developed the idea of Rock Bridge Brewing Co. two years ago, and hoped their love of beer and Columbia would create the perfect brew. The brewery produces its beer at a warehouse on Big Bear Boulevard and plans on selling to local restaurants, bars and grocery stores. Three beers were introduced by the brewing company, with the unfiltered Cysquatch beer seeming to garner the biggest buzz at the opening bash.

Oops. Former Missouri Gov. Roger Wilson faces a federal indictment charge for possibly misappropriating $5,000 from an organization created to help provide worker’s compensation. The firm was originally created by the Missouri legislature. Supposedly, the former Governor made his law firm contribute $5,000 to the Missouri Democratic Party and then later hid the cost of the contribution in a legal bill. Details are still becoming available on the story at time of this blog’s publication; for the most recent updates, visit our sister publication The Columbia Missourian.
