The public has spoken, and they chose The Tiger’s Wife for the 2012 One Read sponsored by the Daniel Boone Regional Library.

The contemporary fiction novel made the Final 10 (elbowing out suggestions like — surprise, surprise — The Hunger Games, and even an appeal for last year’s Runner Up, The Help) and was pitted against a murder mystery narrated by an Alzheimer’s patient. But author Téa Obreht, born in 1985 and writing stories since the age of 8, can now add another accolade to her bio, right behind being named one of the 20 best American fiction writers under 40 by The New Yorker: 2012 One Read Champion.

Copious paperbacks are available at the library. Sign up on the mailing list for upcoming One Read events and they’ll give you a coupon for a free scoop of Tiger Stripe ice cream at Buck’s Ice Cream Place. It’s a win-win.

The Tiger’s Wife is One Read’s 11th selection. Which was your favorite?
