What: Jamey Johnson at The Blue Note
When: May 4th, 830pm
Cost: $35
With frigid blue eyes and a full set of facial hair, Jamey Johnson looks every bit the quintessential rebel.
Yet, the country crooner has spent eight years before as a member in the U.S Marine Corps Reserves, a direct anti-thesis of the average hell-raiser. He also bagged five Grammy nominations during 2009 and 2010.
His 2008 album, That Lonesome Song, made critics take notice and landed him guest spots on Letterman and Leno. Currently on tour across the country, Johnson will be performing songs from his latest album, The Guitar Song, which was released in 2010.
Johnson’s brand of country music is hard and real, much like wisdom gained from commiseration between musicians in a bar over a bottle of old whiskey.
