Album of the week: Diamond Rugs
Diamond Rugs released their self-titled album on April 24. The alternative group threw its genre out the window, but it was worth it. With “Country Mile” and almost the first half of the album, a swampy, harmonica-filled sound takes over. It’s interesting and enjoyable to say the least.
Going platinum
Two country gals go Platinum this week. Taylor Swift for “Ours” and Carrie Underwood for “So Small.” Underwood’s honor, however, isn’t that small. She also was certified for a double-platinum single for “Jesus, Take the Wheel.”
Coldplay and Rihanna release video
A video for Coldplay’s “Princess of China” has been going around, but don’t be fooled — it’s not the actual video. The official video is scheduled to release during the third week of May.
“Red Light Special”
This isn’t a sale at Target; the singers of “Red Light Special” are back. In honor of the 20th anniversary, TLC plans on going on another tour after dropping a new album.
A Presidential honor
According to The New York Times, Bob Dylan will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was given this honor after being praised as the most influential musician during the 20th century.
