As season finales flood your TVs, check out our guide for what to watch on television this week. We promise to make some decisions easier for you. Well, we promise to try.
Monday: The Tonight Show With Jay Leno
When: 10:35 p.m.
Where: NBC
Why: Tonight’s guests include Michelle Pfeiffer and Bear Grylls. No offense Ms. Pfeiffer, but I’m recommending tonight purely for the purpose of spending some time with one very precious, very resourceful Brit.
Tuesday: The Voice
When: 8:00 p.m.
Where: NBC
Why: Live finales always make for good television. But if you’re not in the mood for some music, head on over to Fox for the New Girl finale. Apparently, Jess and Nick face off with a coyote … and hopefully discover their love for each other.
I know, I know. I picked two. So much for helping with decisions.
Wednesday: Modern Family
When: 8:00 p.m.
Where: ABC
Why: After some time off, the crew heads to Disneyland, and Cam and Mitchell have to handle Lily’s newest hobby: running. This can only mean good things.
Thursday: The Vampire Diaries
When: 7:00 p.m.
Where: The CW
Why: I’ve recommended it before, and I would do it again if I could. Season finale time in Mystic Falls is sure to be epic. This final episode, titled “The Departed,” is full of people making heartbreaking decisions. And yes, that includes Elena finally picking a Salvatore brother. Or she could always choose Elijah, because he’s back in town once again (YAY!).
Friday: Avatar
When: 5:30 p.m.
Where: FX
Why: If you’re sick of season finales and just want to hang out with some blue people, turn on James Cameron’s masterpiece. It won’t look as good on a small screen, but it’s still better than having to watch Cameron’s other work again. I’m looking at you, Titanic.
Saturday: A Knight’s Tale
When: 2:00 p.m.
Where: ION
Why: If you’re anything like me, season finales will have you crying your eyes out. So take a break from the tears and enjoy the beauty of a young Heath Ledger and some good old jousting. There’s nothing quite like it.
Sunday: Your mother’s favorite show
When: TBA
Where: TBA
Why: No, this isn’t the title of a new sitcom. It’s Mother’s Day, so let your mom have the remote, even if it means you have to watch Ghost Hunters for three hours.
Summer recommendation: True Blood
When: Sundays at 8 p.m.
Where: HBO
Why: Sit back and enjoy its pretty cast, ridiculous plots and all its campy goodness.
