Hello, beer lovers: Boulevard Brewing Company‘s Saison-Brett is expected to hit the shelves in Columbia sometime early this week. Saison-Brett is a limited release and the fifth beer in the Boulevard Smokestack Series. When we called the brewery last Tuesday to check where it will come to Columbia, Boulevard said it was sold out within two hours in Kansas City the day it came out (that Tuesday itself).
According to BeerPulse.com, each Saison-Brett bottle will be individually numbered. Based on the very popular Tank 7, Saison-Brett is assertively dry hopped, then bottle conditioned with various yeasts, including Brettanomyces, a wild strain that imparts a distinctive earthy quality. Though this farmhouse ale was given three months of bottle age prior to release, further cellaring will continue to enhance the “Brett” character, if that’s what you’re after. It’s best served in a tulip glass.
The beer will not be available on keg or tap. Several places that will carry Boulevard Saison-Brett include 44 Stone Public House (one case), Hyvee on Conley and Nifong (two cases each) and Rangeline Liquor (one case). Each case will have 12 bottles. If you know of any other places that will carry the beer or related information, do comment below.
Cheers!
