With our new music roundup, you won’t be the quiet one around the watercooler…unless they’re talking about sports.

Motion City Soundtrack
Go
The pop-punkers from Minneapolis are on fire and now they think they’re ready to bust a move. If you don’t get it, listen to copious amounts of their hit, “The Future Freaks Me Out.” Dropping their fifth album, the quintet promises the same hum-to-yourself-quiet-enough-so-that-nobody-else-hears-you catchy hooks as their first. The last time the Soundtrack was in Columbia was 2008.

Guided by Voices
Class Clown Spots a UFO
It’s often expressed that absence makes the heart grow fonder. If that’s true, then a Polyphonic Spree-sized amount of hearts are pining over the newest release by this indie rock colossus (not an oxymoron). Their latest tour features the same members as their lineup from shows in 1993-1996. Class Clown Spots a UFO might only be the second album drop from the band this year after January’s Let’s Go Eat the Factory, but these come after a long musical dry spell stretching from 2004. GBV is planning to release another album this November.

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals
The Lion The Beast The Beat
Strangely enough, the lack of any punctuation whatsoever in the rock quartet’s latest album title perfectly fits with the overall sound in The Lion The Beast The Beat. With a “no holds barred” attitude, Potter’s voice drips as a thick venomous syrup in songs such as “Never Go Back” and “Paris (Ooh La La).” If Adele was on a massive caffeine kick and was bitten by a rattlesnake, the result would be this album — and don’t tell me you wouldn’t want to listen to that. They’re scheduled to play in Kansas City on Oct. 25.
