Hello Columbia sports fans! I will be your resident Vox female football commentator for NFL games of my choosing for the remainder of the season. A girl, you ask? What could she possibly have to say about football? Well, I have a lot to talk about, and it has nothing to do with formal analysis or play breakdowns.

It’s a beautiful night for a football game, and we’re heading into the third quarter of the Houston vs. New York match-up  at the MetLife Stadium.

As I turned on the TV here in the Vox office, I immediately decided to root for Houston. Why? Because my boyfriend is from Texas, that’s why. And it turns out I made a good choice: the Texans are off to their best start in franchise history (which isn’t very long, but whatever!) with a 4-0 record, while the Jets seem to be spiraling even further downward as the game progresses. And I would rather see Tim Tebow do well during the 666th Monday Night Football game; Mark Sanchez isn’t my favorite, and he isn’t nearly as attractive as Tim.

It’s been a pretty entertaining game so far with plenty of back-and-forth between these teams. Just when you think the Jets are done for, they somehow manage to bring back the momentum (to my dismay). Yes, I was born in Albany; no, I refuse to root for any New York sports team. Chicago Bears all the way!

Let’s see if the Texans can hold their lead for the rest of the game, folks.

P.S.: My fantasy team is doing horribly. Thanks a lot, Packers D. At least I have Eli Manning and Ray Rice to pick up some slack for me!
