A current Internet search for Frank+Haith will likely turn up a few dozen hits about scandal, allegations, rumors, show-cause and maybe even “fired.” None of the sorts of things a college coach likes having associated with his name or a college fan wants to hear about his or her program, even if there’s no substance to the suggestions.
But it’s not all bad press for Haith lately. Once again, Haith is contending for a $100,000 prize for charity.
In 2012 after a season-long competition of fan voting, Haith was one of four finalists in the Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge, an annual event that allows fans to determine which coach’s chosen charity wins a $100,000 prize. His charity of choice, the local Boys and Girls Club, didn’t end up winning the grand prize — Ohio State’s That Matta won, the money going to the Ronald McDonald House — but they’ve got another shot this year.
Fans can vote daily from now until March 11, when the winner will be announced. And even if Haith doesn’t earn the votes to come out on top, the Boys and Girls Club still comes out a winner; all charities in the competition will receive a $5,000 donation.
