At Saturday’s “How to True/False” session at the Columbia Public Library, there were almost as many T/F veterans on hand as there were newbies.

We asked some seasoned festival goers for their best piece of advice, and here’s what we got:

• David Wilson, T/F co-conspirator and ultimate veteran, suggests scheduling time for the Q&As because you can always see a film again, but the Q&A sessions are hard to re-create. Wondering what’s a good number of docs to see in a day? David says seeing three a day will make for the most pleasant T/F experience.

• One of the Q Queens, Carolyn Magnuson, wants festival goers to keep in mind that there is no such thing as “sold out” at True/False. There will always be a limited number of spaces available for each film. She also says to make sure your ticket type matches your pass type. For example, Lux ticket = Lux pass. If they don’t match up, you won’t be able to get into the screening. Carolyn says she helps a lot of people who lose their tickets. Put your name and contact information on your tickets and envelope in case you lose them. This will make it more likely that they return to you safe and sound.

• Linda Lafontaine suggests being flexible and planning enough time between docs so you’re not running around.

• Gloves are a must, according to Louise Miller.

• Make sure the software and Internet on your computer are up to date when it’s time to reserve tickets, or the site might not work, according to Tim Harlan who’s been to every True/False Film Fest.

• Harlan’s wife Linda says you can do more films than you think. It’s all a matter of “training.” She suggests getting your sleep and practicing walking before the start of the fest.

• It’s important to come early and stay late to films to see the bands and Q&As, according to Sandra Millatti who’s been to five T/Fs.
