Model T Exhibit

Get a look at the historic automobile in which Naomi Martin chauffeurs Miles Fairchild in the One Read book, "The Air We Breathe." Dave and Jan Kern of Fulton will bring their Model T Ford to the Columbia Public Library for you to see. The Model T was designed as a car for "the Everyman," and was named "Car of the Century" by a panel of 133 automotive journalists and experts on December 18, 1999. When it first hit the market in 1909, the vehicle cost $850, and the price sank to only $300 at the height of its production in the 1920s due to increasing efficiencies wrung out of the Ford assembly line. The car will be located outside the north entrance of the library.
