Akira Kurosawa series: "Yojimbo"
Toshiro Mifune stars as Sanjuro, the character that would eventually become Clint Eastwood's The Man with No Name in his trilogy of films directed by Sergio Leone. The first of those movies, A Fistful of Dollars, is a nearly shot-for-shot remake of Yojimbo. In Kurosawa's version, Sanjuro plays two rival gangs against each other to break their control of the villagers.
