The Good: Doctor’s orders
Dr Pepper declared the company will give out a free can of soda to everybody in America if Guns N’ Roses releases the long-delayed Chinese Democracy album this year. The deal excludes free cans of soda for former Guns’ guitarists Slash and Buckethead. However, lead singer Axl Rose said he would share his can with Buckethead because of his involvement in some of the songs. There is still no release date for the album.
The Bad: Los emos
Put on some depressing tunes, and pity the emo community in Mexico. The mostly teenage subculture known for its emotional music and dark, androgynous style has come under attack by fellow youth groups. Emos have been subject to public attacks and Internet threats because they are considered overly sentimental, effeminate posers whose music borrows too freely from other genres. We say, ¡Viva los emos and freedom of expression!
The Ugly: Sex is no picnic
A 40-year-old man from Ohio was arrested for repeatedly having sex with a metal picnic table. Arthur Price, Jr. would go into his backyard, sans clothes, and seduce the table by turning it on its side. Conveniently, the table has a hole where an umbrella is supposed to go. Sometimes he’d even invite the table in his house. His neighbor caught the act on tape and turned it into police. The question is, was the table over 18?
