Brittany Snow and Scott Porter enjoy the most exquisitely crafted prom ever. When your prom budget hits a million bucks, you might actually deserve to die

Anyone who has ever dreamed of returning to their high school prom might have second thoughts after seeing the horror flick Prom Night. It’s not because of the fact that an escaped killer crashes the party and takes out almost all of the leading cast members. It’s because the cliché lines and high school stereotypes make this film as enjoyable as a knife to the gut.
A horrible tragedy has left Donna Keppel (Brittany Snow) haunted by the past for years. By the time prom night rolls around, she’s ready to leave it all behind and enjoy what is essentially the Oscars of high school. She and her tight-knit group of suspiciously attractive friends hop into their stretch limo and head off to the prom with dreams of the fun that lies ahead. But when the obsessed teacher who ruined Donna’s world years before makes a mad dash for the prom, the best night of everyone’s lives becomes the night of everyone’s deaths.
Prom Night features an event with a budget only a movie studio could provide, teenagers who conspicuously lack any signs of acne or awkwardness and a killer who could stand in for Kevin Federline. The only thing missing is a synchronized dance scene. All of these things do nothing but distract from the movie’s scares — or lack thereof. The old turn-around-and-he’s-behind-you trick can only get to you so many times in 88 minutes.
