Blues: Blues notes are played or sung just under pitch, so it sounds like a minor interval rather than a major. Blues is rooted in late 19th-century African-American music and evolved from the call-and-response style. Robinson brings blues to the band through his Tennessee background.
Flamenco: Cante, baile and la guitarra (song, dance and the guitar) are the three components of flamenco. Originating in Andalusia, Spain, flamenco has a strong gypsy background. Goodman’s guitar playing and the band’s percussive style reflect this influence.
