Admittedly, summer generally isn’t my favorite holiday. Here in Missouri, these three months are hot, muggy and pretty uncomfortable. I’m more attuned to the cool breezes and pleasantly warm sun of spring, or the vibrant colors and crispness of fall (not to mention, humidity and my naturally curly hair don’t get along).
Even so, I do enjoy the pace of summer and my summers in Columbia have been some of the best (and most changing) thus far. Things are usually just a little slower, a little less hectic. The longer days lend themselves well to relaxing after the overbearing sun has begun its nightly retreat. There seems to be more time — and who can’t use some of that? It is only a short drive before the air is permeated with the smells of BBQs. There are some things that are so decidedly summer that it’s hard to completely dismiss the season.
If you are looking for something to fill those long, blissfully lazy days, Vox has what you need. We’ve compiled a list of what’s what this summer in Columbia and surrounding areas with our summer preview (Feature). So, kick off your shoes and get comfy with Vox. Summer is here at last.
