You don’t want to miss a minute of your movie, but you downed a Coke the size of a kiddie pool before the previews ended and a bathroom break is in order. Luckily, you checked RunPee.com, a Web site that maps out the best times for cinema potty stops.
Dan Florio had the idea for RunPee.com in 2005 while watching the three-hour-long King Kong.
“I had to pee so bad,” Florio says. “If I had gone during the bug scene, I probably would have enjoyed the movie more. It was a wretched scene, and then I would have been comfortable for the end of the movie.”
His site tells users the best “PeeTime” to leave their movie, how long they have to take care of business and what they’ll miss. There’s even an iPhone app in the works that would count down to each “PeeTime.” Now there’s no reason to freak about taking a leak.
“I see people running all the time,” says Micheal Stull, a Hollywood Theater employee. “Every single shift.” He says it’s mostly girls, and they usually look as if there’s a problem.
Two months ago, RunPee.com had zero to 30 visitors per day; now, the site has about 6,000 page views on an average day. So far, it seems RunPee.com is a royal flush.
