Drury shares his recent favorite listens

May 6, 2010 | 12:00 a.m. CST

Got headphones? Vox has song recommendations from Sacred Heart youth minister and music junkie Chris Drury. When not busy leading Columbia youth in their Catholic faith journey, Drury loves discovering new artists through NPR and rocking out to these hits.

“Take a Minute”
by K’naan
This is a fun song that has a great message behind it, a catchy beat and a really unique voice. It has a great Bob Marley feel to it.

“Distraction #74”
by The Avett Brothers
I could listen to this song over and over again. They’re rockin’ out and start changing every other word at the end. It’s neat to listen to.

“Blue Eyes”
by Uncle Tupelo
My wife has blue eyes and always complains about the song “Brown Eyed Girl.” In this song, Uncle Tupelo sings about going home to his blue-eyed wife. It’s a mushy song for us.

“Heavy Metal Drummer”
by Wilco
I could put any Wilco song on the list, but this one refers to The Landing in St. Louis, where I used to go to see concerts all the time and always had a great time.

“Army”
by Ben Folds (Live)
It’s just classic Ben Folds. He’s rockin’ on the piano and having fun. It’s really great if you see him in concert because you can just watch him doing his thing and having a blast on stage.
