Four mid-Missouri bakers compete in Battle of the Bakers to benefit Columbia's Ronald McDonald house.
June 4, 2010 | 12:00 a.m. CST
On Sunday, June 6, four of mid-Missouri’s bakers will compete to be crowned the champion of Smarr Custom Homes’ Battle of the Bakers competition.
Chez Monet and BK Bakery of Jefferson City and Polka Dot Pastries and Mariah Leutz Michas of Columbia will be bringing their best game in the form of their best pastries. Attendees will be able to sample each contending baked good. Attendees can vote for their favorite with their wallets, dropping money into jars for their baker of choice. Attendees’ votes will hold some weight in the judging process, but the three judges, Marcia Machens, Wally Pfeffers and Lauren Whitney, will have the most say in who is the Baking Champion of Mid-Missouri. Judges will choose based on taste, texture and presentation, so it’s not all about the taste.
