Get ready for Starhawk, the intergalactic third-person shooter successor to Warhawk.
May 3, 2012 | 12:00 a.m. CST
In an era of exploration, a new Gold Rush has swept the colony of Frontier. Miners harvest an energy called rift. But its power corrupts humans and transforms them into monsters that kill without mercy. Now, a battle is raging.
The successor to 2007’s Warhawk, Starhawk takes players into the space for a little intergalactic action. Starhawk is a third-person shooter like its predecessor and has plenty of brawling. The latest upgrade is the story-driven campaign mode. Gunslinger Emmett Graves returns to protect his hometown. An accident left him infected with rift energy, and his mutations are the key to his strength.

The game has competitive options; at 2011’s E3, a computer and videogame trade show, Starhawk snagged the award for Best Multiplayer Game. Players can bump heads with up to 32 competitors. The standard two- to four-person co-op is also on the menu.
Starhawk also offers a few new features, including a Build and Battle system. Players can tweak and turn battlefields to their advantage by creating structures in real time — a mechanic that sprinkles a little strategy into an otherwise straight shooter.
Suit up for space, and prepare for explosive combat and action-driven storytelling within a gorgeous, rich new universe.
