Centipede Hz
Animal Collective
Releases: Sept. 4
One perk of being an experimental psychedelic band is the freedom to change direction from album to album. Animal Collective last brought fans eccentric dance tracks on Merriweather Post Pavilion, one of the best-reviewed albums of 2009. The band has stayed true to its experimental roots by having no roots at all. Electronic beats have been replaced by drums, and the band plays with a fiery aggression that only an Animal Collective fan could love.
Beacon
Two Door Cinema Club
Releases: Sept. 4
It was the luck of the Irish for the band’s first album, which was a major success in 2010 across the pond, but this sophomore effort proves that Two Door Cinema Club has more talent than luck. The electro rockers refined, rather than abandoned, the catchy hooks and beats that made them lovable. The group’s latest single, “Sleep Alone,” proves that Beacon is filled with the same upbeat dance songs that are perfect for commercials but too cool for radio.
