In an atmosphere comparable to concerts at Fillmore Auditorium or Avalon Ballroom, audience members of all ages and backgrounds will get the chance to learn what made each of the five essential periods of the decade so turbulent and exciting.

Each period, from the British Invasion years to the Flower Power days, will be featured in the show through songs, costumes, dances and short videos that highlight the major events that took place during those years. Producer Jim Duffy says the audiences’ favorite video is a series of snapshots from different commercials that aired throughout the decade.

“It’s a real throwback to the true pop culture of the ’60s,” Duffy says. “There’s really no better way to look at pop culture in any decade than to just watch some TV commercials.”

Tons of great music will be included, but it’s more than throwing a tribute band on stage and letting them play. Generation Y might not have grown up in the ’60s, but it knows how to get down. So parents, beware, Gen. Y is putting its own mark on the ’60s.
