Some call it hooch. Others call it the sauce. Whatever the name, booze is the lifeblood of True/False parties and keeps the fest going.
As the Booze Admiral, Mark Alexiou ensures the taps never run dry.
During the fest’s four days, Alexiou and his booze team of three bartenders will run from venue to venue, set up and take down bars, serve drinks and keep the bars stocked. They’ll make sure everything runs smoothly. But most importantly, they’ll make sure the party lasts.
Although all the alcohol at the 17 T/F-sponsored events is free, the booze doesn’t just show up at the parties. Gary Briggs, a Schlafly sales representative, and Mark Grundy, the vice president of wine distributor Golden Barrel, have to coordinate the beer and wine supply for the festival with Alexiou’s help. It’s an imperfect science; they base their numbers on previous years, the number of pass holders and guesses about alcohol consumption.
We’ve collected some statistics about beer and wine at the festival. However, these numbers only apply to the festival-sponsored events. Some venues, such as The Blue Note and Ragtag, have their own bars. But you knew that already.
