2018 MET Museum Costume Institute Benefit Gala

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attends The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit gala celebrating the opening of the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination exhibition on Monday, May 7, 2018, in New York. 

It is one of the most anticipated evenings in fashion as celebrities, models, fashion designers and enthusiasts of the like gather to showcase some of the most over-the-top looks of the year all in the name of charity. The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, is a an annual fundraising event held the first Monday in May to benefit The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

However, This years’ theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” rebirthed creativity as the star-studded event gave new meaning to the interpretation. Some of the more popular trends included intricate craftsmanship, angelic headpieces, and seemingly endless trains as both men and women left their mark.

Rita Ora made her debut in a show-stopping Prada gown, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stunned many in a Ralph Lauren cape-style dress and halo headpiece. However fan-favorite Chadwick Boseman, of Black Panther, dominated in his Versace ensemble, while Rihanna took a page from the Pope's stylebook. She added her own flare as she strutted down the red carpet in a beaded custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano. Although an exclusive event, the hashtags #MetGala and #MetGala2018 kept social media on their toes as celebrities slayed the carpet.
