fall preview

We've wrapped up summer’s outdoor events and have entered fall, and there is no need to feel blue about live music ending.

As COVID-19 vaccination rates continue to rise in Columbia, indoor concerts will still happen but with precautions to help reduce the spread of the virus. The Blue Note and Rose Music Hall both require audience members to show their vaccination card or a printed photocopy of it—with the final dose of the vaccine being taken at least 14 days before the event—or printed proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event.

The Blue Note was able to produce shows in some capacity from June to November of 2020, and they have been producing shows this year since March, The Blue Note general manager Mike Nolan says in an email. They look forward to continuing to provide live music opportunities to Columbia this fall.

"The calendar might not be as full as it normally is, but live music has 100% returned already," Nolan says in the email. "It's what we do here for a living and [what] we all know, so I'd say we feel pretty great about it."

Bands and musicians are also ready to perform more this fall. Local band Post Sex Nachos—a huge hit with MU students—is excited for their shows and new music to come.

"We've been writing a ton of stuff since we finished our summer tour and are really excited to show it off to new people," the band tells Vox over Instagram message.

Vox has rounded up various concerts to keep you warm with dancing and singing this fall. Here is a look at some upcoming concerts in Columbia that are sure to add some fun to this season and help you fill out your autumn bucket list.
