Register for this Zoom book talk with author Kristie Wolferman, who will be discussing her book The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: a History. When the museum opened to the public in 1933, no prior event in Kansas City had created so much fanfare. Not only had the city never had an art museum, but the country was in the midst of the Great Depression. Viewed as somewhat of a miracle, a serendipitous combination of people, events and circumstances culminated in creating a world-class, historical museum in a Midwestern town previously better known for steaks and cowboys.
