I’m going to break a few hearts here, but secret menus are not real.
As much as I’d love to believe that fast food execs are sitting around curating a menu of unlisted items for customers to find on their own without promotion or advertisement, they just aren’t doing that. Secret menus are the results of a bunch of smart internet foodies who have come up with spins on items you can order at popular chains.
I’ve curated my own list of unlisted items you can order right here in Columbia. Next time you find yourself at one of the following chains, ask for one of these recipes:
Starbucks: Chocolate-covered Strawberry Frappuccino
Starbucks can make basically any recipe you bring them. Ask to add java chips and a mocha drizzle to the strawberries and crème Frappuccino.
Wendy’s: Meat Cube
This is exactly what it sounds like — a one-pound cube of meat.
Ask for the Dave’s Triple burger, which is three quarters of a pound, plus another patty and slice of cheese. You might need help eating this one.
If you go to Chipotle as much as I do (at least once a week), then you may want to spice things up with this secret menu item. It’s basically a burrito with a cheese quesadilla shell. Sounds heavenly, right? Order a burrito as you normally would and ask for a cheese quesadilla as the shell of it.
Taco Bell: The Incredible Hulk
A trip to Taco Bell doesn’t have to be a slash to your clean eating. Try the Incredible Hulk burrito. Order the five-layer burrito with guac instead of nacho cheese, no 6-inch shell and no sour cream. Enjoy your burrito without the guilt of unnecessary carbs.
Chick-fil-A: Root Beer Float
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to the root beer float from Chick-fil-A. Just order a cup of root beer and politely ask for vanilla ice cream to be added in.
