If you are looking to travel back in time to an old-school juke joint filled with soulful, jazzy folk tunes, look no further. Patty Griffin has embarked on a headlining acoustic tour through the Midwest and Southern states. She will be accompanied by loyal guitarist David Pulkingham, and Ontario-based songwriter AHI — a cocktail of indie, soul and folk — will open the show.
A two-time Grammy award winner, Griffin’s most recent album, Servant of Love, came out in 2015. The track of the same name is filled with her passionate sense of longing: “I long to live. I long to live by the ocean. Carry me away. I’m a servant of love.” The album strikes a happy medium between love and mystery, taking listeners on her journey.
Griffin is working her way toward her next album, according to a recent press release from Big Hassle Media, in addition to investing time in philanthropy and political issues. The 2016 “Use Your Voice Tour” worked alongside the League of Women Voters, and the 2017 “Lampedusa Tour” supported the Jesuit Refugee Service.
Griffin is sure to take you on an intimate journey at her acoustic show.
